Sri Sidharth Birla is the Chairman of the Board since 1998. Sri Birla is an Industrialist with experience in industry and business of over 45 years, is a Science Honors Graduate and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from IMEDE (now called IMD), Lausanne, Switzerland. He has also attended various management programs at the Harvard Business School, Boston, USA, including the Owner/President Management Program, Making Corporate Boards More Effective, etc. He is also Past President of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Member, Board of Governors, Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, Member of the 19th, 21st and 22nd Council(s) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (Nominee of Central Government).
Sri K Balakrishnan is an Independent Director of the Company. He joined the Board of Directors of the Company on May 25, 2022. Sri Balakrishnan, is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary. He has over three decades of professional experience, of which around 25 years have been in Financial Services business in India, providing strategic and financial advice to variety of Indian and Multinational Corporations, Financial Sponsors and private business families. Currently, he is the Chairman of Kriscore Financial Advisors Private Limited. Prior to Kriscore, Sri Balakrishnan was Chairman & Managing Director of Lazard India and was responsible for building Lazard’s business in India. With excellent client relationships and domain knowledge, he was instrumental in origination and leading execution of most transactions. He also served as Head of Corporate Finance and Advisory for HSBC Investment Bank and was responsible for the corporate finance and advisory business of HSBC Investment Banking in India. He has also worked with Infrastructure Leasing & Finance Services Limited, Mumbai, and lead teams both on advisory and financing assignments.
Mrs. Madhushree Birla is a non-executive non-independent Director of the Company. Graduate from University of Ahmedabad, was first appointed on the Board in 2004. She has served as Director and Advisor of various Corporate Bodies at different times. Has attended management program at the Harvard Business School, Boston, USA, on Making Corporate Boards More Effective. She is presently Executive Director of iPro Capital Ltd., and is also engaged with social and philanthropic bodies. She is on the Board of Directors of Alpha Capital Resources Pte. Ltd., Singapore and Intellipro Finance Pvt. Ltd.
A Chemical Engineer with a Master’s degree from Cornell, USA, he is presently President of his family-owned Tablets (India) Limited. He has an experience of over a decade in managing multi-varied businesses with expertise in Pharmaceuticals and in establishing and managing joint ventures. Recognised as ‘Leading Health Professional of the World 2010’ in the arena of “Probiotic Revolution in India”, he has also been awarded at the Indian Pharma Association Convention 2010. He is presently a Non-Executive Non-Independent Director on the Board of Dhunseri Ventures Limited (Listed Entity) and Director in Sinto Bharat Manufacturing Private Limited, Amethyst Properties Private Limited and Eldorado Properties Private Limited. He is a Member of the Audit Committee of Dhunseri Ventures Limited and is a Designated Partner in RSRK Estates LLP, Shravan Ventures LLP, Shravan Technology LLP, Just Rental Holdings LLP and Grande Assets Madras LLP. He is also a member of the National Executive Committee of FICCI, of the Executive Committee of YPO-Chennai and a Trustee of the Birla Education Trust, Pilani.
Ms. Nandini Khaitan is a partner of Khaitan & Co. and has been recognized as the Economic Times 40 under 40 Business Leaders of India and is recommended by Legal 500 for her disputes practice. Ms. Khaitan has vast experience in commercial, environmental, family litigation and arbitration. She appears at every level of the Indian judicial system, including the Supreme Court of India, High Courts, National Company Law Tribunal, National Green Tribunal and District Courts of various states. Having worked extensively with two chartered High Courts of India (Bombay and Calcutta), she is thorough in the nuances of litigation across courts. Ms. Khaitan also represents clients in domestic arbitrations and cross border disputes/arbitrations where she advises clients on global issues both against private and state parties. Ms. Khaitan also works with various social justice issues like legal education for the underprivileged and is the external member of the Internal Complaints Committee set up under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 of organizations. She guest lectures at various law schools from time to time. Ms. Khaitan has recently co-authored and led the initiative for the Firm on a first of its kind Compendium on the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. Previously, she served as an Independent Director of Xpro India Limited from March 21, 2015 to August 7, 2019.
Sri Manoj Mohanka cut his teeth in his youth in wide-ranging businesses such as market research, exporting garments to the USA, pharmaceuticals to the USSR, running a mini – steel plant and raising foreign capital for Indian businesses. Since then, Sri Manoj Mohanka has invested in several companies in different domains. Deccan Chronicle and TV 18 in the media space, 3D Techno pack and Simoco Digital in the manufacturing sector, Magus in customer dialogue, Batchmates.com and WoNoBo.com in the internet space. In all these companies he played a variety of roles from turn around to formulating business strategy, building management teams, raising capital, negotiating foreign collaborations and public offerings. He was Chairman of Mumbai based Info media Press Ltd (previously Tata Donnelly Ltd) & Network 18, India’s largest television network for many years. He has been the head of many prestigious business associations such as President, Calcutta Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of Young Presidents Organization, Kolkata & served on the Economic Affairs Committee of FICCI(ER), Boards of Eastern Institute of Management and Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce. He is keen on sports too & was President of Calcutta Racket Club, India’s oldest squash club. In addition, he runs a charitable trust for the education of Muslim girl children in non-madrasah schools. He holds a Master’s degree with a major in Strategic Marketing from the Michael Smurfit Grad School of Business and has been a Gurukul Chevening Fellow at the London School of Economics. Sri Mohanka has been a Guest Lecturer at V.G. School of Management of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and has articles published in business newspapers/internet portals on a variety of subjects such as economics, politics & religion. Suhana has over 17 years of experience in Corporate and Commercial Laws. Her core expertise
includes private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, business transfers, joint ventures, and
foreign investments. She advises several multinational clients on their India entry strategies,
inbound and outbound investments, and foreign exchange laws. Suhana is a partner at AQUILAW
LLP. Prior to AQUILAW, Suhana was a Partner with Khaitan & Co.
Her work experience spans several sectors such as healthcare, e-mobility, FMCG, retail,
manufacturing, information technology (IT) and IT-enabled services. She also specializes in
corporate governance and ESG (Environment, Social and Governance). Suhana has been consistently
recognized as a ‘Notable Practitioner’ in the prestigious IFLR 1000 Rankings for India from 2019 till
date. She has completed her B.L.S. LL.B. from the Government Law College, Mumbai, and her L.L.M.
from King’s College London, United Kingdom.
Sri C Bhaskar, B.Tech. (Chem.) with distinction, and a post-graduate from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, has expertise in operations management, marketing and general management with extensive experience of over 45 years in consultancy and in industry, including 5 years with Tata Sons Limited/Tata Economic Consultancy Services and over 40 years with the businesses of Xpro India Limited. He has worked in areas of Corporate and Business planning, Market Research, Asset Revaluation, Diversification, Mergers, Acquisition, Disinvestment, Marketing, Operations and Factory Management, and Business Head. He has attended management development programmes at the Indian School of Business and other Institutions. He is an elected Fellow of the Indian Plastics Institute. He has been the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of our Company since January 1, 2001. He has also been involved in Industry Associations (including in the past as President of Organisation of Plastics Processors of India, Vice President of the All India Plastics Manufacturers Association, and as Chairman/member of Committees of the Plastindia Foundation. He is also a Trustee on several educational, social and religious charitable trusts.
